We are representing a confidential AI technology organization focused on transforming public sector operations internationally. Our talent team is seeking an Engineering Manager based in London to lead engineering efforts on custom AI applications serving government and public sector clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Manage the engineering team and drive technical delivery for production-grade AI applications
• Design, build, and optimize backend services for advanced AI-driven applications, focusing on AI agents, evaluation tooling, and automation
• Work cross-functionally with both internal stakeholders and external customers
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through production deployment
• Lead end-to-end feature development, including system design, debugging, and testing
• Deliver high-velocity experiments at scale to engage public sector customers
• Shape the culture, values, and processes of a growing engineering organization
• Inspire and mentor engineers on your team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new product features and experiences

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking candidates with:

• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience
• At least 2 years of experience managing backend engineers
• Proven success in leading, managing, and developing high-performing engineering teams
• Expertise in identifying product engagement patterns and trends for large-scale applications
• Track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale
• Ability to thrive in a very fast-paced environment
• Strong capability to translate business and product ideas into engineering solutions
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively
