Engineering Manager – Data Enablement

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their Data Enablement function. This is a remote position based in the United States, offering the opportunity to shape technical strategy and develop high-performing engineering teams in a mission-driven environment.

Our client is looking for a hands-on technical leader who can bridge the gap between architecture, delivery, and people development. You'll guide teams through complex technical decisions, foster collaboration across the organization, and build solutions that enable data-driven business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Review technical solution designs and architecture, providing strategic guidance and direction to engineering teams
• Participate in system design conversations and support the execution of technical solutions
• Ensure code review standards are maintained and promote engineering best practices across teams
• Support agile practices, sprint ceremonies, and continuous learning initiatives
• Partner with Product Managers on initiatives, epics, and features, providing technical expertise and clarity on desired outcomes
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with peers across multiple teams to broker cross-product solutions
• Contribute to product and platform technology vision, strategies, roadmaps, and enterprise frameworks
• Define and support development lifecycle processes, including DevOps, observability, and monitoring practices
• Serve as an escalation point for production incidents and ongoing maintenance issues
• Guide build vs. buy decisions and vendor selection processes for platforms and technologies
• Conduct regular 1:1s with team members, providing coaching, career planning advice, and development opportunities
• Lead recruitment efforts and build a high-performing, collaborative team culture
• Manage a team of direct and indirect staff with accountability for talent management and performance standards

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of progressively responsible positions in Information Technology
• 5+ years of experience in IT disciplines such as customer relationship management, portfolio strategy, or roadmap development
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing IT teams or leading major technical projects
• 3+ years of management/supervisory experience in applications development or similar functional areas
• Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams
• Strong project management skills with experience executing multiple or large-scale projects
• Experience developing solutions to complex business problems in collaboration with stakeholders
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience working in fast-paced environments requiring flexibility, sound judgment, and decision-making with limited information
• Software development background with ability to read code and stay current on best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA
• Financial services industry experience
• IT planning and business relationship management experience
• Experience in matrix management organizations
• Product development and management experience
