Hagerty Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Emergency Management - Individual Assistance (IA) / Housing Specialist to join our team in Asheville, Buncombe County. This is a full-time position supporting critical disaster recovery and emergency housing assistance initiatives throughout the United States.
About the Role
As an Emergency Management - Individual Assistance (IA) / Housing Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping communities recover from disasters and providing essential housing support to affected individuals and families. This position combines strategic emergency management expertise with hands-on assistance delivery during crisis response and recovery operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement Individual Assistance (IA) programs and housing recovery strategies in partnership with federal, state, and local disaster response agencies
- Assess housing needs and support displaced residents through emergency sheltering, temporary housing, and long-term recovery solutions
- Coordinate with emergency management teams, government officials, and community organizations to deliver disaster assistance
- Provide technical guidance on disaster recovery programs, eligibility requirements, and housing assistance processes
- Monitor program performance, document outcomes, and prepare reports for stakeholders and agencies
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience in emergency management, disaster recovery, or Individual Assistance (IA) programming
- Strong knowledge of FEMA disaster assistance programs and housing recovery frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-stress environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with diverse teams across all organizational levels
- Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration, social services, or related field preferred
