Join Hagerty Consulting, Inc. as an Emergency Management - Individual Assistance (IA) / Housing Specialist, supporting disaster survivors in Trenton, Mercer County. As a full-time team member, you'll help individuals and families navigate recovery programs, secure housing, and rebuild after emergencies.

About the Role

In this position, you'll serve as a critical link between disaster survivors and the resources they need to stabilize their lives. Working with Hagerty Consulting—a nationally recognized leader in emergency management and homeland security—you'll combine compassionate service with rigorous attention to program requirements and documentation standards. Your work directly impacts how quickly families can secure safe housing and access financial assistance during their most vulnerable moments.

What You'll Do

  • Process and manage individual assistance applications from disaster-affected households
  • Conduct intake assessments and document housing damage, displacement status, and assistance needs
  • Explain available programs, eligibility criteria, and application procedures to survivors in clear, accessible language
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal partners to ensure survivors receive timely support
  • Develop housing solutions, including temporary lodging options and long-term recovery resources
  • Maintain detailed, compliant case files and ensure accurate program data entry
  • Provide ongoing case management and outreach to underserved populations

What We're Looking For

  • Knowledge of FEMA Individual Assistance programs, disaster recovery procedures, or emergency management practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain complex information simply
  • Proficiency in case management, intake processes, or program administration
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-moving, crisis environments
  • Compassion for survivors paired with attention to compliance and accuracy
  • Flexibility to work in varied settings, including disaster sites and community centers
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, social services, emergency management, or related field preferred
