What This Role Involves

As a Senior or Staff Electrical Engineer focused on Power Innovation at Williams, you'll take ownership of complex electrical engineering projects from conception through deployment. You'll combine deep technical expertise with leadership acumen to drive innovation across power systems, advance engineering standards, and mentor junior team members. This role demands someone who can bridge cutting-edge power technology with practical operational excellence, all while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and optimize high-voltage electrical systems and components for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams and collaborate with operations, construction, and field personnel to deliver projects on time and within specifications
  • Develop and implement power system studies, load flows, fault analyses, and transient stability assessments
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and energy storage solutions
  • Create technical documentation, design specifications, and engineering standards that guide current and future projects
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds regulatory requirements, industry codes, and company safety standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior-level or leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated expertise in power systems design, analysis, transmission, or distribution engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering, or ability to obtain one
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, NERC regulations, and electrical safety protocols
  • Proficiency with electrical engineering software tools and CAD applications
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead technical teams and manage stakeholder relationships
