82Nd Street Academics is hiring a full-time Early Childhood Teacher (2026-2027) to lead a Universal Pre-K classroom in Jackson Heights, Queens, guiding our youngest learners through a foundational year of growth and discovery.

About the Role

As the Early Childhood Teacher (2026-2027) and Lead Teacher for our Universal Pre-K (UPK) program, you will shape a warm, welcoming, and intellectually engaging classroom in Jackson Heights, Queens. This is a central role in the early learning experience, and your daily leadership will set the tone for how children explore, play, and build the skills that carry them forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and lead a nurturing, inclusive classroom where every child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.
• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) standards and curriculum.
• Foster early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional growth, and curiosity through hands-on, play-based instruction.
• Observe and document student progress, adapting activities to meet a range of learning needs.
• Partner with families, co-teachers, and program staff to support each child's development.
• Maintain an organized, stimulating, and well-managed learning environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching in an early childhood or pre-kindergarten setting.
• Strong knowledge of NYCDOE standards and early childhood curriculum frameworks.
• A passionate, collaborative approach to working with young children and colleagues.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to building an inclusive environment that respects every learner.
