DevOps Engineer – Release & Deployment (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization in Frankfurt am Main that is building secure, cloud-agnostic software solutions for critical infrastructure environments. Our talent team is seeking a DevOps Engineer focused on release and deployment engineering to join their AppFactory.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions to enable fast, stable, and repeatable software releases to production
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes while continuously improving release quality and velocity
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep for Azure environments, promoting shift-left practices
• Collaborate closely with development, testing, and operations teams to establish DevOps best practices across the organization
• Implement modern deployment strategies including blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments for both internal and client projects
• Analyze incidents in the release process, identify weaknesses, and develop sustainable solutions with your team
• Advise clients on designing appropriate release and deployment architectures that match their specific requirements
• Take on an active architecture role in client projects from requirements analysis through solution design to technical implementation
• Serve as the technical point of contact for release and deployment questions for both internal product teams and external clients

What We're Looking For

Our client requires:

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or equivalent practical experience
• Several years of professional experience in release engineering, DevOps, or CI/CD engineering, ideally in consulting or product environments
• Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies, and tagging conventions
• Experience in direct client contact or consulting roles such as Solution Engineer or Technical Consultant
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to explain complex architectures clearly
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable platforms
• Understanding of release promotion processes across environments (Development → Test → Pre-Production → Production) and hotfix strategies
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM templates
• Experience with Kubernetes deployment and rollback processes, artifact management, and container image versioning (Docker, AKS)
• Familiarity with different system architectures: monolith, monorepo structures, multi-tier, and microservices
• Knowledge of cloud architectures, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Independent, solution-oriented working style with high quality standards and hands-on mentality
• Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience versioning Helm Charts and GitOps workflows (Argo CD, Flux)
• Background in agile development environments (Scrum, SAFe)
• Monitoring and observability tools: Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus
• Azure or DevOps certifications (AZ-400, AZ-104)
