DevOps Engineer (Intern)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AWS modernization consultancy that is hiring a DevOps Engineer Intern to join their infrastructure and deployment team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to cloud operations, automation, and production deployment workflows in a high-velocity engineering environment.

Our client specializes in large-scale cloud migrations and application modernization. As an intern on the DevOps team, you'll work alongside senior engineers managing enterprise deployments, supporting release pipelines, and automating infrastructure provisioning. This is a learning role—you won't own production cutover decisions, but you will own real operational work: triaging tickets, building automation, and supporting the deployment toolchain that keeps customer migrations on schedule.

This role is remote and open to candidates anywhere.

Responsibilities

• Work through the operations ticket queue and project task backlog with the DevOps team
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy configuration changes and rollouts for client environments
• Build and maintain automation for server provisioning and operational workflows using AWS CloudFormation
• Support production release deployments and scheduled maintenance windows
• Contribute to improvements in the operations stack, including CI/CD pipelines, source control, monitoring tools, and metrics platforms
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting assistance to the broader engineering organization
• Assist with cloud migration tasks, including decommissioning legacy infrastructure

What We're Looking For

• Conceptual understanding of version control systems (git), including branching and merge workflows
• Conceptual familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Exposure to Snowflake concepts
• Basic understanding of build tools (Maven, Gradle) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins); prior exposure to supporting Java applications in production is preferred
• Conceptual knowledge of Linux environments and scripting languages including bash, Python, or Groovy
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively across teams
• Eagerness to learn operational discipline, automation practices, and cloud-native engineering
