About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established, family-owned business in the communications technology sector based in Ingolstadt. Our client is seeking an entrepreneurial leader to join as Technical Director with a clear path toward a future Managing Director role. This is a genuine succession opportunity within a stable, internationally successful organization.

This role combines immediate technical leadership with long-term strategic responsibility. You'll shape the technical organization while working closely with current leadership to gradually assume broader business ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the technical organization and its strategic direction
• Manage and mentor an experienced technical team across multiple disciplines
• Design and implement organizational structures, processes, and technical roadmaps
• Collaborate directly with executive leadership, clients, and strategic partners
• Oversee multi-project management and coordinate external partners and service providers
• Drive KPI-based steering of complex projects, including planning, budgeting, and forecasting
• Lead change management initiatives and transformation processes
• Gradually assume additional business responsibilities leading toward a Managing Director position

What We're Looking For

• University degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical/scientific field
• Several years of leadership experience in a technology-driven environment, preferably in mid-sized companies
• Proven track record developing and executing technical strategies and solutions
• Experience leading and developing cross-functional teams
• Strong business acumen with cost awareness and financial planning capabilities
• Deep understanding of current technology trends and regulatory frameworks
• Fluency in German and English
• Entrepreneurial mindset with willingness to take ownership
• Leadership style based on empathy, social competence, and authentic presence rather than hierarchy
• Natural authority combined with team orientation
