About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential education-technology organization in a unique opportunity to build talent operations for a large-scale AI fellowship program. This role leads both recruiting and people operations for a cohort-based program placing early-career technologists into mission-driven host organizations.

The program is scaling rapidly—from 100 fellows in the first cohort toward 1,000 in year one and 10,000 by year three. You'll lead the team responsible for the complete fellow lifecycle: recruiting, screening, employment, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations. This is not a strategic HR seat removed from execution, nor a recruiting role that ends at the offer. You'll own both sides and build the systems that let a small pod handle exponential growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead a blended pod of early-talent recruiters and fractional HR coordinators supporting the fellowship program. Set priorities, manage workload, coach to performance standards, and scale the team as cohorts grow.
• Own the recruiting funnel from application review through offer acceptance. Maintain screening quality and candidate experience while moving high volume against the program's selection criteria.
• Manage the employer-of-record lifecycle including offer execution, background checks, I-9 and work authorization, payroll setup, benefits enrollment, and onboarding. Direct this work through fractional support while ensuring a seamless employee experience.
• Automate and AI-assist operations to keep team size lean as volume scales. Find repetitive work in resume screening, scheduling, candidate communication, document generation, compliance tracking, and reporting—then build or implement tools to handle it.
• Co-own employee relations and performance management with program leadership. Handle documentation, process consistency, and employment decisions while partnering on the context and host relationships. Escalate appropriately.
• Build repeatable systems for multi-cohort operations including screening workflows, HR service-level agreements, multi-state compliance, and partner handoffs. Bring structure to a program still being built.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of combined experience in recruiting and HR or people operations, with demonstrated ownership of both functions—not just one.
• People management experience including managing through fractional, contractor, or shared-service capacity.
• High-volume or early-talent recruiting background plus hands-on HR operations experience (payroll, benefits, compliance, onboarding). Employer-of-record, PEO, or multi-state employment experience strongly preferred.
• Active AI user who can point to concrete examples of automating or rebuilding workflows. Comfort with ATS/HRIS configuration, workflow automation, and prompting is expected.
• Employee relations capability with a steady hand in performance and conduct conversations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to bring structure without waiting for direction.
• Dual commitment to quality and candidate experience even under volume pressure.
• Direct communication style and ability to work across partner organizations with different systems and cultures.
• Mission alignment with expanding access to AI careers and treating fellows as full employees, not transactions.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $110,000 to $150,000 USD annually.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States.
