DevOps Engineer

Jobgether is recruiting a DevOps Engineer on behalf of a partner company based in South Africa. This full-time, remote position offers an opportunity to help design and maintain the infrastructure that powers large-scale digital platforms.

Role Overview

This DevOps Engineer role sits at the centre of a collaborative engineering operation where infrastructure reliability, automation, and operational efficiency drive success. You'll own the design, deployment, and ongoing management of systems that enable teams to ship software confidently and frequently to production. Your work spans cloud platforms and on-premises infrastructure, directly shaping how smoothly the organisation delivers value to customers.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Build and optimise deployment pipelines and continuous integration systems that accelerate software delivery
• Provision, configure, and scale cloud and on-premises infrastructure to meet performance and availability requirements
• Automate operational workflows, monitoring, and alerting to reduce manual effort and minimise system failures
• Partner with software development, quality assurance, and operations teams to remove infrastructure bottlenecks
• Apply modern DevOps practices and industry standards across security, performance, and cost management
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents, maintaining system stability under real-world conditions

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering and deploying applications in cloud or traditional infrastructure environments
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code, containerisation, and configuration management technologies
• Solid grasp of continuous integration and continuous deployment principles and practical pipeline experience
• Demonstrated capability with scripting and automation across Linux or other operating systems
• Track record monitoring systems, interpreting operational metrics, and responding to alerts
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across development and operations teams
