We're seeking a Manufacturing Training Supervisor to lead our training function at Industrial Electric Manufacturing in Surrey, British Columbia. About the Role
As Manufacturing Training Supervisor at Industrial Electric Manufacturing, you'll lead training programs for our Surrey-based manufacturing operations. You'll manage a team of 6–10 training specialists while personally contributing to curriculum design, delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities will span team leadership, training logistics and scheduling, hands-on instruction, and ensuring all programs meet quality and regulatory standards. This position reports directly to the Learning Program Manager and requires strong organizational skills, manufacturing knowledge, and the ability to translate operational priorities into effective training interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop 6–10 Manufacturing Training Specialists, including staffing decisions, performance management, professional development, and corrective action processes
- Manage end-to-end training schedules across all programs, facilities, and shifts, coordinating instructor assignments, venue bookings, equipment, and materials to minimize production disruption
- Communicate training calendars and scheduling updates to production leadership to enable resource planning and employee availability
- Facilitate instructor-led and hands-on technical instruction in areas including wiring, assembly, fabrication, inspection, and standardized work procedures
- Administer competency assessments and practical evaluations to verify task qualification and certification readiness
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Health & Safety teams to identify training needs, align curriculum with operational goals, and refresh content as standards evolve
- Design and improve training materials, job aids, procedures, and assessments using proven instructional methodologies
- Oversee Learning Management System administration, including learner enrollment, attendance tracking, transcript management, and compliance reporting
- Monitor training metrics, completion rates, and certification status to drive data-informed program refinement
- Maintain an audit-ready training environment and ensure records meet regulatory and quality system requirements
- Champion health, safety, and quality compliance through consistent messaging and floor presence
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Education, Organizational Development, or a closely related field—or equivalent technical training combined with substantial hands-on manufacturing experience
- Six or more years of training delivery and facilitation experience
- Proven experience delivering instructor-led and hands-on technical training in manufacturing or production settings
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and schedules concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including scheduling tool development in Excel or Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage confidently with frontline staff, supervisors, and senior leaders
- Preferred: supervisory or team lead experience in training, operations, or manufacturing; Learning Management System administration experience; knowledge of quality and inspection standards; familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement frameworks; ability to interpret engineering drawings and work instructions; experience coordinating training across multiple shifts or sites; instructional design background using ADDIE or similar models
