Data Protection Specialist (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking a Data Protection Specialist for their Dormagen location. Our client operates in a regulated environment where data privacy and compliance are mission-critical. This role sits within the legal, data protection, and compliance team, offering the opportunity to shape practical data protection implementation across the organization.

As a Data Protection Specialist, you will handle data protection matters independently, support subject access requests, and advise internal teams on new and modified processes. You'll work closely with various departments to ensure data protection is implemented effectively and clearly in day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Independently review and assess data protection matters under GDPR and German data protection law (BDSG)
• Process data subject requests, data protection complaints, and individual cases, including preparation of substantiated responses
• Advise functional departments on new and adjusted processes, supporting assessment of data protection breaches
• Draft and review data protection contracts, particularly data processing agreements
• Coordinate closely with group-level data protection coordinators and support implementation of organization-wide data protection requirements

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in business administration, law, business law, or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in data protection law
• Strong knowledge of GDPR and German data protection legislation
• Practical experience with data subject rights, data protection complaints, and data protection contracts
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
• Experience in data protection within a regulated company, particularly in financial services or debt collection environments, is advantageous
• Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
