Data Protection Officer (Deputy) (F/M/D)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential financial services organization in Frankfurt am Main for a Deputy Data Protection Officer position. This role serves as a critical support function within the data protection assurance framework, deputizing for the Data Protection Officer and helping ensure personal data is appropriately safeguarded across a multinational operation.

This is an immediate hire for a permanent position based in Frankfurt am Main.

Responsibilities

• Support the DPO and management in identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting data protection and privacy risks
• Monitor legal, regulatory and organizational developments and support implementation of proportionate measures
• Contribute to maintaining effective and compliant data protection structures and controls across the organization
• Support development and maintenance of data protection strategy, policies and oversight framework
• Coordinate regular reporting to management on key risks, developments, incidents and remediation activities
• Support independent monitoring of compliance with applicable data protection laws, internal policies and controls
• Monitor effectiveness and adequacy of data protection processes and measures
• Advise the business on data protection and privacy requirements, including privacy by design and default, DPIAs and cross-border data transfers
• Provide guidance on data subject rights, third-party arrangements, privacy notices and records of processing activities
• Advise on assessment and handling of personal data breaches and notification requirements
• Promote data protection awareness and support training activities
• Deputize for the DPO in governance, reporting, monitoring and assurance activities where required

What We're Looking For

• Degree in law, information governance, data protection, computer science, or related field
• Extensive experience in data protection and privacy with demonstrable expert knowledge of data protection law and practices
• Detailed knowledge of EU GDPR, Singapore PDPA, and DIFC Data Protection Law
• Experience in practical implementation of data protection and privacy in multinational environments
• Track record of working in an entrepreneurial environment
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities
• Ability to interact effectively with senior and junior level stakeholders
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with proven ability to build and present reports
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to act independently and free from conflicts of interest, with high professional integrity
• Experience in information security is advantageous
