About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential education services organization seeking remote Subject Matter Experts who have recently passed the PE Petroleum exam. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to develop practice exam content that will directly impact future engineers preparing for licensure. Our client values expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical knowledge into effective learning materials.
Responsibilities
- Write clear learning objectives aligned with PE Petroleum exam specifications
- Advise on question topic distribution and appropriate difficulty levels
- Author exam-like practice questions with detailed solution explanations
- Provide references to design standards and NCEES handbook where applicable
- Collaborate with the content development team to ensure comprehensive exam preparation materials
- Contribute to study plan recommendations and customer preparation strategies
- Perform quality assurance and technical reviews of authored content
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Recently passed the computer-based testing (CBT) format of the PE Petroleum exam
- Active PE Certification issued by NCEES in Petroleum Engineering
- Excellent command of English language, both verbal and written
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Prompt, responsive communication primarily via email
- Self-motivated with ability to proactively develop high-quality content
- Receptive to feedback, meet deadlines, and accountable for deliverables
- Availability for occasional video meetings during business hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience tutoring, mentoring, or educating engineering students or colleagues
- Background creating multiple-choice questions, study materials, or instructional content
Technical Requirements:
- Must supply own equipment with Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader or Professional, and MathType installed
Work Arrangement:
- Remote, contract (1099) position with flexible hours up to 20 per week
- Project-based assignments with discrete schedules and deliverables
- No set working schedule beyond assigned project deadlines
