About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the commercial signage industry who is seeking an experienced Commercial Sign Graphic Designer to join their team. This role requires someone who can transform conceptual ideas into production-ready visual designs across print and electronic media, with deep expertise in the sign fabrication process.

Our talent team is looking for a designer with sign industry experience who can collaborate across multiple departments, manage complex technical specifications, and deliver work that balances visual impact with buildability. You'll work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects, managing timelines while maintaining brand accuracy and technical precision.

Responsibilities

• Timeline Ownership: Manage priorities, follow up on dependencies, reprioritize as needed, and consistently meet or exceed deadlines
• Proactive Communication: Surface missing information, risks, scope changes, and timeline impacts early to keep projects moving forward
• Technical Design Execution: Apply layout, proportion, hierarchy, spacing, typography, contrast, sightlines, and legibility principles to create clear, buildable sign solutions
• Brand & Color Accuracy: Maintain brand integrity through correct logo use, color matching, PMS/paint/vinyl callouts, finish selections, and illuminated color considerations
• Vector Graphics Mastery: Demonstrate expertise in CorelDRAW with strict vector hygiene—managing complex layering systems, manipulating Bezier curves with precision, and executing flawless path-finding operations
• Photo-Simulation: Use advanced Photoshop skills to blend 3D sign vectors into site photos, adjusting perspective, lighting/shadow layers, and creating realistic simulations of nighttime illumination and material textures
• Buildable Details: Incorporate depth, returns, reveals, illumination zones, mounting conditions, material transitions, installation constraints, and service access into design decisions
• Dimensioning & Scale: Use accurate measurements, scale relationships, material yield awareness, and viewing-distance requirements to support production-ready drawings
• Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner with internal teams to resolve design, material, fabrication, installation, or customer concerns quickly and professionally
• Utilize emerging AI trends to reduce process timelines and enhance deliverable quality
• Update and maintain internal databases of designs

What We're Looking For

• Required: 5+ years of graphic design experience in the sign industry
• Required: Proficiency with CorelDRAW (primary design software)
• Required: Understanding of various sign types and fabrication methods
• Required: Strong portfolio including technical fabrication drawings
• Required: Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field
• Preferred: Experience in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Preferred: Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and installation processes
• Strong eye for visual composition
• Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
• Understanding of marketing and corporate identity
• Experience with computer-aided design
