About the Role

As an over-the-road (OTR) driver for U.S. Xpress - OTR, you'll operate a company-provided dry van truck across regional and long-haul freight routes. This position features consistent work with an average of 2,000 miles per week and a 12-days-out/2-days-home schedule, paired with transparent mileage-based pay. Whether you're starting your professional CDL career or seeking a stable fleet operation, you'll have the opportunity to build strong earning potential with pay ranging from 57–64 cents per mile based on experience, plus a guaranteed weekly minimum of $1,500.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A CDL commercial vehicle safely and professionally across assigned OTR routes
• Maintain accurate logs, perform pre-trip inspections, and ensure full DOT and company regulatory compliance
• Transport dry van freight while meeting delivery schedules and maintaining load security
• Communicate with dispatch and fleet management regarding route progress and load updates
• Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report any mechanical or safety concerns

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) with a clean driving record
• 1–5 months of verifiable professional commercial driving experience
• Pass DOT medical certification and background screening requirements
• Ability to commit to a 12-out/2-home schedule with variable load assignments
• Professional communication skills and strong responsibility for vehicle and cargo safety

U.S. Xpress - OTR provides competitive compensation designed to reward professional drivers. All drivers receive a $4,000 sign-on bonus and benefit from guaranteed weekly minimum pay of $1,500. Your mileage rate of 57–64 cents per mile depends on your experience level, and top-tier performing drivers in our fleet have earned weekly pay of $1,700 or higher. Team driver positions are also available with a $5,000 combined sign-on bonus and pay rates of 72–80 cents per mile split between partners, averaging 5,000 miles per week.
