Kirkwood School District is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our Buildings and Grounds team. This full-time, 12-month support position offers the opportunity to maintain and enhance our school facilities while enjoying a competitive benefits package.
About the Role
As a Carpenter supporting our Buildings and Grounds department, you'll play a vital role in keeping our school facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained. This is a full-time position with year-round employment and comprehensive benefits.
What You'll Do
- Perform carpentry work including framing, finishing, repairs, and installation of doors, trim, cabinets, and other wood structures throughout school buildings
- Maintain and repair building components such as flooring, walls, and structural elements across multiple school locations
- Diagnose and resolve carpentry-related maintenance issues to ensure facilities remain operational
- Work collaboratively with the Buildings and Grounds team on facility projects and preventive maintenance schedules
- Follow safety protocols and building codes in all carpentry work
- Use hand tools and power tools proficiently to complete projects with precision
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a carpenter or in a related skilled trade
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tool usage
- Ability to read blueprints and follow technical specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, dependable work ethic with ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver's license for potential travel between school locations
