This role focuses on building and maintaining the C++ platform infrastructure that powers advanced robotic systems, ensuring reliability and safety in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Development: Design, implement, and maintain C++ software components for platform infrastructure, including Linux-based runtime services, communication layers, configuration handling, and developer tooling
  • APIs & Interfaces: Define and improve the APIs and interfaces connecting robotic applications, backend services, and hardware-facing components, collaborating directly with firmware, control, backend, DevOps, QA, and application teams
  • Real-Time Processing: Contribute to real-time and near-real-time data processing pipelines, accounting for latency, determinism, resource usage, and failure behavior

  • Reliability & Observability: Improve system reliability through enhanced error handling, observability, monitoring, and recovery mechanisms
  • Architecture & Standards: Provide component-level input to software architecture decisions and technical standards, working within direction set by senior engineers and technical leads

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills:

  • Background: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and professional experience, with 2 to 5 years building production C++ systems
  • Modern C++: Professional experience writing production C++ software using modern practices (C++17/C++20)
  • Systems Programming: Solid understanding of Linux system programming including processes, threads, IPC, sockets, scheduling, and file systems, plus networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, UDP, latency, buffering, and packet flow
  • Debugging & Concurrency: Practical debugging skills (GDB, sanitizers, or similar) and experience with multi-threaded or concurrent programming
  • Engineering Practices: Understanding of maintainable software architecture principles (SOLID, separation of concerns, testability) and experience writing automated tests, particularly unit and integration tests

Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience with robotics, industrial automation, or embedded systems, including industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, or Profinet
  • Knowledge of real-time Linux and kernel internals, including scheduling, IRQ handling, and IPC mechanisms
  • Experience with firmware update flows, containerized environments, or build/package systems such as Conan or CMake
  • Experience with Python for tooling, automation, testing, or code generation
  • Exposure to designing internal frameworks, SDKs, or reusable platform libraries
  • Experience mentoring interns or peers, or contributing to technical discussions
