Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential robotics and automation organization seeking an Automation Engineer for PLC development and commissioning work based in Munich, Bavaria.
In this role, you will be responsible for PLC development, HMI integration, and commissioning of industrial automation and robotics systems. You will ensure that control logic, interfaces, and system behavior function reliably in real customer environments. This position requires approximately 60% travel domestically and internationally to support project implementations and on-site commissioning activities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- PLC Development: Develop and extend PLC programs for industrial automation systems and robotics applications
- HMI Integration: Implement and maintain HMI and control-level interfaces for operation, diagnostics, and process control
- Commissioning: Support on-site commissioning activities and ensure functional handover in customer environments
- Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve issues in control logic, field communication, and system behavior
- System Integration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, project engineering, and deployment teams to bring complete systems into stable operation
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for control logic, parameterization, and commissioning status
What We're Looking For
Essential qualifications:
- Technical Background: Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, industrial engineering, or related field
- PLC Experience: Several years of experience developing and adapting PLC programs in industrial automation environments
- Commissioning Expertise: Solid practical experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation systems in the field
- Control Systems: Working understanding of HMI, fieldbus, and control-level integration tasks
- Industrial Practice: Experience with real production or plant environments and their technical constraints
- Work Style: Independent, structured, solution-oriented approach with strong hands-on orientation
- Languages: Excellent German and good English skills for technical coordination
Beneficial qualifications:
- Robotics: Experience with robotics-based automation systems and their integration into control environments
- Safety: Exposure to safety logic, safety concepts, or CE-related topics
- Networks: Experience with industrial communication interfaces and fieldbus or network topics
- Field Practice: Familiarity with customer projects, travel requirements, and direct on-site work
