About the Role
As a Lead Technical Business Intelligence Analyst at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will design and deliver analytics solutions that advance Population Health and Value-Based Care initiatives. Partnering with clinical, administrative, operational, and payer stakeholders, you will analyze claims and performance data, build dashboards, and serve as a trusted technical advisor and mentor to fellow analysts across the System's Analytics Community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead analytics initiatives end to end — defining problems, integrating disparate data sources, and delivering tools that meet customer objectives.
- Build advanced Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations that reveal new opportunities and answer complex business questions.
- Develop and refine performance metrics to monitor ongoing organizational results.
- Extract, transform, and integrate data into an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) via direct integration or normalization.
- Troubleshoot complex technical, data quality, and reporting issues while guiding BI, Specialized, and Technical BI Analysts.
- Translate business needs into actionable analytics and present findings to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, data science, business administration, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Master's strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years collaborating with customers on analytics deliverables, plus 7 years building self-service reports, dashboards, and decision-support tools.
- Expert proficiency in one or more tools across query languages (CCL, SQL, Nomad, Oracle, Vertica, Snowflake), visualization (Tableau preferred, Spotfire, Sisense, Qlik, Power BI), data prep (Tableau Prep, Hadoop, Alteryx, Talend), statistics (R, SAS, SPSS), and data science (Python, DataRobot, Anaconda).
- Strong SQL and experience with complex healthcare datasets, including claims, population health, and value-based care data.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite, including Excel (pivot tables, VBA, macros).
- Tableau or vendor-neutral certifications such as aCAP preferred; knowledge of Epic EMR and healthcare operations preferred.
Note: This is not a fully remote role. Memorial Hermann cannot hire remote workers in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Utah, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, Alabama, Mississippi, Illinois, Oregon, Arkansas, or Iowa.

Build the skills for this role
Prioritize advanced SQL, dimensional modeling, dashboard design, and stakeholder facilitation. Deepen healthcare data literacy (encounters, quality, finance) and technical leadership: standards, peer review, and roadmap ownership for BI platforms.
Expect case-style questions on metric definition, data quality, and leading analysts under ambiguous clinical or operational asks. Prepare examples of dashboards or models you shipped for multi-site environments and how you handled conflicting stakeholder priorities.
Best fit for senior BI practitioners who want impact in a large not-for-profit Texas health system—comfortable owning technical standards while partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders.
