Business Architect (part-time contract)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology services organization in their search for a Business Architect to support a critical billing platform transformation on a part-time contract basis. This role bridges finance and engineering, translating a complex subscription billing model into actionable data requirements for the integration team.

You will navigate ambiguity across business and technical domains, guiding stakeholders through the transformation from a legacy accounting system to a modern subscription billing platform. Success in this role requires the ability to interpret billing data models and logic well enough to unblock technical teams, while maintaining clear stakeholder communication throughout a planned handover period.

Responsibilities

• Translate the subscription billing model into data requirements the integration team can execute
• Lead business analysis for custom billing rules, revenue recognition, and reporting requirements not covered by vendor professional services
• Guide finance and business stakeholders through the platform transformation, providing clear guidance at each migration step
• Interpret the billing platform's data model and logic to unblock the integration team, serving as a subject matter resource
• Facilitate decision-making and trade-off conversations directly with finance leadership
• Maintain stakeholder communication and technical continuity during coverage or handover periods

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Proven business analysis experience including requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis across finance and technical domains
• Strong subscription and billing domain knowledge covering recurring revenue, invoicing, and payment lifecycle
• Data literacy with ability to read pipeline logic, validate data flows, and QA outputs
• Stakeholder facilitation skills including running workshops, producing decision documents, and framing trade-offs for technical and non-technical audiences
• Prior ERP or accounting system migration or transformation experience
• Ability to ramp up independently on new billing platform data models with minimal oversight
• Advanced conversational English with executive-facing communication skills for direct collaboration with US-based finance teams

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with enterprise subscription billing platforms (Zuora or similar) including billing, revenue, and CPQ modules
• Cloud data ecosystem experience with BigQuery, Looker, or similar analytics tools
• Knowledge of change management frameworks such as ADKAR or Kotter
• Relevant billing or revenue platform certifications
