Attendant Off Gas

Join Glencore as an Attendant Off Gas at our Rhovan Mine facility in Brits, Madibeng, North West Province, South Africa. This full-time position is central to our pyrometallurgical operations, managing critical off-gas capture systems that support sustainable mining and production.

Role Overview

As an Attendant Off Gas, you will operate and monitor our kiln off-gas capture systems, specifically managing sulphur dioxide (SO₂) extraction and treatment. Your technical focus and operational vigilance keep our process running safely and efficiently whilst maintaining environmental compliance at our Brits operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate SO₂ capture and off-gas systems from the kiln, ensuring optimal performance and throughput
• Monitor and adjust kiln feed area parameters to maintain process stability
• Record operational data, track key performance metrics, and respond to system alarms or anomalies
• Inspect equipment regularly, identify maintenance needs, and support technician repairs
• Enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols; report hazards and incidents immediately
• Collaborate with shift supervisors, operators, and process engineers to resolve operational challenges
• Maintain detailed logs and communicate shift handover information to incoming teams

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent formal qualification
• Technical training or qualification in plant operation, process control, or mechanical engineering (preferred)
• Proven reliability in shift-based, 24/7 industrial environments
• Ability to monitor multiple system parameters simultaneously with precision
• Basic understanding of process control and equipment operation
• Sound communication, problem-solving, and teamwork capabilities
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as operational needs require
• Valid South African driver's licence (advantageous)
