Assistant Nurse Manager Emergency Department

BJC HealthCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for our Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital Belleville in O Fallon, Saint Clair County. This full-time evening position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated nursing team and shape clinical excellence in one of the region's trusted acute-care hospitals.

About the Role

As Assistant Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department, you'll bridge clinical leadership and team management. You'll oversee nursing operations during evening hours, ensuring quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff development while supporting both routine emergency cases and critical care needs. This role combines hands-on clinical oversight with strategic team leadership.

What You'll Do

• Direct nursing staff supervision and assignment during assigned shifts to maintain quality standards and patient safety
• Support emergency and critical care delivery, including pediatric emergency services through Children's at Memorial
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to optimize patient outcomes and operational flow
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Mentor and develop nursing staff through feedback, performance coaching, and professional growth opportunities
• Address staffing challenges, patient acuity needs, and shift-level priorities in real time
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and incident review processes
• Support the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based emergency and critical care

What We're Looking For

• Current RN license in good standing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Demonstrated emergency department nursing experience
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical setting
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional standards
