Join BJC HealthCare's clinical nursing team in Manchester, Saint Louis County as a full-time Clinical Nurse supporting our Transitional Care Unit. We're seeking compassionate, skilled nurses to help manage the flow of patients through our emergency department and into inpatient care.
About the Role
Our Transitional Care Unit bridges emergency and inpatient services, providing stabilization and monitoring for patients awaiting inpatient bed placement. As a Clinical Nurse on this specialized team, you'll play a vital role in patient safety, comfort, and transition planning during a critical phase of care.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and provide direct clinical care to patients boarding in the emergency department awaiting inpatient admission
- Conduct patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and medication administration per protocols
- Document patient status and coordinate communication between ED, inpatient units, and care teams
- Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
- Support patient and family education during the transition to inpatient care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain detailed, accurate medical records and comply with all regulatory standards
What We're Looking For
- Current RN licensure in Missouri
- Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week, with every third weekend off
- Previous emergency department or inpatient nursing experience (preferred)
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple patients in a dynamic environment
