APPLICATION / SOFTWARE ARCHITECT, LEVEL 3 (Software Developer)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential government contractor seeking seven experienced Application/Software Architects to join a multi-year digital transformation initiative. This remote engagement runs through March 2029 with an optional extension to 2030, delivering modern software solutions for marine safety digital products in an Agile environment.

Our talent team is building a core delivery team that will design, develop, test, and maintain complex software solutions including API integrations, front-end components, database platforms, and CI/CD pipeline configurations aligned with Government of Canada Digital Standards.

Responsibilities

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deploy, customize, and integrate systems using Agile SDLC and Design Thinking methodologies
• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Deliver incremental software enhancements at sprint cadence
• Share knowledge through code reviews, pair programming, and internal documentation

Requirements Analysis & Architecture

• Conduct business and technical requirements analysis to determine system and solution needs
• Gather stakeholder input, define objectives, and identify technology stack and architecture
• Participate in user requirements sessions, architectural design reviews, and prototyping with Product Owners

Application Development

• Analyze, design, develop, modify, test, troubleshoot, and maintain complex software solutions using VB.NET, C#, Azure SQL Server, Power BI, SQL Server Management Studio, SSIS, and Azure Data Factory
• Implement authentication, authorization, APIs, and third-party integrations with security best practices
• Develop front-end components using HTML/CSS/JavaScript and server-side logic with database integration
• Optimize application performance, security, and maintainability while ensuring coding standards compliance
• Link pull requests to DevOps work items for full traceability

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Conduct unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing to validate functionality and performance
• Create automated test scripts for regression testing using tools like Selenium or Playwright
• Fix bugs and refine features based on stakeholder feedback
• Assist in technical audits to assess software quality and performance

Deployment & DevOps

• Configure CI/CD pipelines and set up staging and production environments
• Manage deployment processes with rollback and recovery procedures
• Create deployment scripts and automated deployment tools
• Recommend and perform software improvements across multiple environments

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Develop technical documentation including API specs, system architecture diagrams, and user manuals
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and produce training materials
• Coach and mentor team members to enhance technical expertise

What We're Looking For

Mandatory Experience (within last 7 years):

You must provide two project examples demonstrating ALL of the following:

• API development and integration with database platforms and infrastructure architecture within IM/IT projects
• Working within Agile environments (sprint/Design Thinking methodologies, collaboration and teamwork)
• Software development and implementation using SQL, C#, VB.NET; APIs and third-party integrations; front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript); back-end development (server-side logic, APIs, database integration); code quality and technical testing
• Data management and business intelligence

For each project example, your résumé must clearly identify:

• Client organization name
• Dates and duration of engagement (month/year start and end)
• Project title and description of scope demonstrating the required tasks

Education:

• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in IT or Software Engineering from a recognized Canadian institution (per CICIC). A copy of the credential must be provided.

Security & Language:

• Must be eligible to obtain SECRET security clearance
• Fluent English (written and oral) with ability to communicate without assistance and minimal errors

Engagement Details:

• Location: Remote (Canada)
• Contract period: ASAP through March 2029 (with 1-year option to 2030)
• Estimated commitment: 220 days per resource (initial period)
