About This Opportunity
We are representing a well-established technical services organization in northern Germany that specializes in building diagnostics. Our client is seeking skilled plumbing and heating professionals who want to transition from routine installations into specialized damage investigation work. You don't need prior leak detection experience—comprehensive on-the-job training is provided to qualified candidates with the right background and mindset.
This role focuses on diagnostic work rather than standard repair. You'll investigate water damage incidents, use modern measurement technology, and systematically identify the actual source of problems. It's ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical puzzles more than repeating the same installation tasks daily.
Responsibilities
- Investigate water damage incidents to identify root causes rather than symptoms
- Assess damage patterns and apply modern measurement equipment systematically
- Determine precisely where water intrusion originates
- Decide which diagnostic methods will produce reliable results
- Identify minimal-intervention points for accessing building components
- Document findings digitally with measurements, photographs, and clear reports
- Provide actionable information to property owners, insurers, and remediation teams
- Primarily conduct regional day assignments with occasional longer-distance work
- Participate in on-call rotation approximately every five weeks
What We're Looking For
- Completed vocational training as a plumbing and heating systems mechanic (Anlagenmechaniker SHK), gas and water installer, or heating technician
- Technical understanding and genuine interest in systematic troubleshooting
- Experience in customer service, technical service, fault resolution, or maintenance is highly valued
- Practical hands-on skills and careful handling of customer property
- Friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with clients
- German language proficiency at B2 level minimum
- Valid Class B driver's license
- Willingness to learn digital documentation methods and new measurement techniques
Prior leak detection experience is welcome but explicitly not required. Our client provides thorough, individualized training. You'll shadow experienced colleagues, learning equipment operation, measurement procedures, documentation standards, and common damage patterns through hands-on practice. You'll only take independent assignments when both you and the technical team feel confident—training continues as long as professionally necessary.
