About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking an exceptional AI Engineer to join their team in Berlin. This is a hybrid role working on cutting-edge AI capabilities that power the next generation of intelligent commerce solutions.

Our client needs someone who owns AI capabilities end-to-end—from the data and context feeding models, through agent orchestration, to the generative UI users interact with. You'll have shipped and operated full-stack applications in production, treating backend, frontend, data, and ML not as separate teams but as integrated capabilities you personally execute. You're an engineer who wields models and builds ruthlessly around their uncertainty, not a research scientist.

Responsibilities

  • Build agent loops and orchestration including tool use, structured outputs, business-rule enforcement, and graceful failure handling
  • Develop integration layers (via MCP) enabling agents to securely call backend systems and business APIs
  • Render model output into live, streamed, accessible UI via generative-UI protocols
  • Ground models in real data through retrieval, embeddings, and closed-loop feedback systems
  • Treat evaluations as first-class systems—delivering provable improvement, not vibes
  • Take capabilities from prompt-in-a-notebook to measured, guard-railed production features

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • 5+ years shipping production software
  • 2+ years building with LLMs in production environments with real users, not just demos
  • Proven track record shipping full-stack applications to production and owning them end-to-end—frontend through backend to deployment and operations
  • Hands-on experience with UI protocols such as A2UI, AG-UI, MCP-UI, or similar generative/agent-driven UI protocols
  • Strong command of the AI spine: prompt/context engineering, agents, tool use, structured outputs, evals, and MCP
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node plus React
  • Comfort with async operations, streaming, and observability
  • Working fluency with retrieval/embeddings and SQL

Nice to have:

  • Experience with fine-tuning/distillation
  • Background in e-commerce or marketplace systems
  • Track record in 0→1 product development
