About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology client in South Africa who is seeking an AI Builder for a 6-month contract engagement. This is a remote position reporting to senior leadership and working alongside their Product Manager.

Our client provides digital health coaching services and needs someone who can build practical AI solutions that work in production, not presentations. You'll be embedding with their coaching team to understand real workflows and ship tools that non-technical users can rely on daily.

Responsibilities

Over the course of this 6-month contract, you will:

• Build internal tools and coach-facing features using LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, and open-source models)
• Transform unstructured conversational data from messaging platforms into structured, actionable insights
• Design and maintain prompt chains, RAG pipelines, and agent workflows that deliver reliable results
• Prototype rapidly, moving from concept to working demo in days rather than weeks
• Establish evaluation frameworks for model outputs with a focus on accuracy that end-users can trust
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing platform APIs, databases, and communication tools
• Own the complete technical stack for your deliverables: frontend, backend, model integration, and deployment
• Work directly with end-users to understand their daily reality and build solutions that fit their actual workflows

Your initial focus will be building a risk-ranking system that helps coaches prioritize which clients need immediate attention, followed by context briefing tools that surface relevant client history instantly. Month 6 is dedicated to handover, documentation, and ensuring systems run independently.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrable portfolio of AI tools that real users have adopted (we will ask to see your work, not just hear about it)
• Proven track record shipping AI-powered products to non-technical audiences
• Hands-on expertise with LLM APIs including function calling, streaming, and embeddings
• Strong prompt engineering capabilities and understanding of effective patterns
• Experience working with messy, unstructured conversational data
• Product instinct: ability to understand user needs through conversation and build the right solution without heavy specifications
• Data-driven approach including building custom reporting to identify root causes
• Fluency with agentic development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms
• Builder's mindset toward knowledge transfer and creating systems that outlast your tenure
• Fluent English communication skills

This is explicitly not a dashboard/BI role, ML research position, or strategy consulting engagement. We need working software in production, quickly.

Pay
