About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AI consulting organization that helps enterprises transform machine learning and generative AI technologies into production-ready digital products. Our talent team is seeking an AI Application Engineer to join their Berlin-based team, focusing on building user-facing AI applications using LLM and RAG technologies.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of AI engineering, backend development, and cloud deployment, creating scalable AI systems that deliver measurable business value for enterprise clients across banking, insurance, automotive, and retail sectors.
Responsibilities
As an AI Application Engineer through our client, you will:
- Design and develop AI-powered applications including enterprise assistants, copilots, semantic search platforms, and intelligent automation systems
- Build LLM-powered applications using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and modern AI frameworks
- Develop end-to-end AI products by integrating LLM APIs, enterprise data sources, and backend services
- Design scalable AI microservices and APIs to integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms
- Implement vector search, embeddings pipelines, and knowledge retrieval systems
- Rapidly prototype AI product features and proof-of-concepts, evolving them into production systems
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, AI engineers, and enterprise customers to develop impactful solutions
- Deploy AI systems to cloud platforms using modern DevOps practices
- Ensure reliable, scalable, and observable AI services through CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and containerized deployments
- Engage directly with enterprise clients to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or comparable technical field
- Strong programming skills in Python and modern backend frameworks
- Experience building applications using AI, machine learning, or generative AI technologies
- Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Convincing communication and presentation skills in German and English to participate in workshops in both languages
- Ability to engage with enterprise clients to understand business challenges and identify high-impact AI opportunities
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience running technical workshops or facilitating solution design sessions
- Experience developing APIs, microservices, and scalable backend systems including vector databases
- Experience with containerization and DevOps practices (Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes)
- Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or HuggingFace
- Experience deploying AI services in cloud environments
- Knowledge of AI observability, monitoring, and evaluation of LLM systems
Example projects: Enterprise AI knowledge assistants, AI copilots for internal business tools, semantic search platforms, document intelligence systems powered by LLMs, and AI agents for enterprise workflow automation.
