Mercor is hiring an AI Adversarial Specialist for a fully remote contract position, enabling you to contribute to advanced AI safety research from anywhere while supporting leading laboratories worldwide.

About the Role

As an AI Adversarial Specialist, you'll perform security and safety testing on conversational AI systems, uncovering vulnerabilities before these technologies impact users. This contract role offers compensation between $20–$22 per hour and focuses on identifying failure modes, documenting attack patterns, and helping organizations strengthen their AI systems against misuse and jailbreaks.

What You'll Do

• Red-team conversational AI models and agents to surface jailbreaks, prompt injection vulnerabilities, and potential misuse vectors.
• Generate high-quality annotated data by analyzing system failures, categorizing vulnerability types, and flagging systemic safety risks.
• Apply structured testing methodologies using established taxonomies, benchmarks, and playbooks to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
• Produce clear, actionable documentation including detailed reports, labeled datasets, and reproducible attack scenarios that teams can act upon.
• Assess AI outputs across sensitive areas including bias, misinformation, and harmful content in both English and Urdu contexts.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• Native fluency in both English and Urdu languages.
• Hands-on experience in red teaming, AI adversarial work, cybersecurity, or socio-technical risk investigation.
• Ability to communicate security findings clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:

• Background in adversarial machine learning, cybersecurity, or AI threat modeling.
• Creative problem-solving abilities developed through psychology, acting, writing, or unconventional security testing approaches.
