About the Role
We're seeking an experienced educator to lead our secondary agricultural education program, serving students in grades 9–12. You'll combine classroom instruction with practical field experience, preparing students for careers in agriculture, veterinary science, agribusiness, and related fields. This role includes advising our FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter, fostering student leadership, and building connections between academic learning and real-world agricultural practices.
What You'll Do
- Deliver comprehensive agriculture curriculum covering soil science, crop production, animal science, agricultural mechanics, and sustainable farming practices
- Design and facilitate hands-on laboratory activities, greenhouse work, and field projects that reinforce classroom concepts
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, maintaining records and communicating with families
- Sponsor and advise the FFA chapter, including organizing chapter meetings, competitions, and community service projects
- Maintain laboratory equipment, teaching materials, and agricultural facilities in safe, functional condition
- Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction with state standards and CTE program objectives
- Participate in professional development to stay current with agricultural education best practices and industry trends
What We're Looking For
- Valid Nebraska teaching certification in Agriculture or equivalent state credentials
- Demonstrated expertise in agricultural sciences, production practices, or related field experience
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage diverse learners
- Experience with or willingness to advise student organizations and clubs
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
