Role Overview

As Legal Manager in our Dealer Funding Recovery Branch, you will drive the legal strategy and execution for debt recovery in our crop and agricultural financing portfolio. You'll oversee complex litigation matters, arbitration proceedings, and legal actions essential to protecting the bank's interests and maximising recovery outcomes. This role requires expertise in financial services law, strong case management capabilities, and a proactive approach to legal problem-solving within the agricultural finance sector.

Key Responsibilities

• File and attend arbitration proceedings and conduct all necessary legal proceedings for debt recovery
• Manage litigation under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, as well as civil and criminal cases involving defaulting parties
• Pursue legal recovery actions against defaulters and oversee case progression toward resolution
• Handle cases relating to economic offences and associated legal matters within the agricultural finance space
• Ensure effective and timely resolution of legal cases to optimise recovery timelines
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to strengthen case outcomes

Requirements

• Qualification in law and authorised to practise as a legal professional in India
• Demonstrated experience in banking, financial services, or debt recovery litigation
• In-depth knowledge of the Negotiable Instruments Act, civil procedure, and criminal law relevant to financial recovery
• Strong analytical and case management skills with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English
• Ability to manage multiple cases concurrently and work effectively under pressure
