About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in München that is expanding its engineering team. We're seeking an Advanced/Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to contribute to critical platform development and clinical system integration work.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate backend services that power mobile and web products used in patient care settings. You'll work on client-facing APIs, healthcare data integrations, medical imaging workflows, and both cloud and on-premise infrastructure. This is a substantial architectural role where your engineering decisions will shape how the platform evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate production backend services that support clinical workflows
  • Design and maintain APIs consumed by mobile and web applications
  • Implement integrations with clinical data systems and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Own end-to-end service quality including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production diagnostics
  • Produce technical documentation and evidence required for regulated development processes
  • Contribute to architectural decisions spanning on-premise and cloud deployment models

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Several years of professional experience building and operating backend systems in production environments
  • Strong grasp of API design, data modeling, and distributed system architecture
  • Hands-on experience with containers, relational databases, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows
  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (the client uses Python, Go,.NET, and Rust)
  • AI-native development approach, actively leveraging modern AI tools while understanding their limitations
  • Structured, quality-focused working style suitable for regulated environments
  • Professional English communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) or interface engines (Mirth, Rhapsody)
  • Knowledge of DICOM and medical imaging workflows
  • Background in regulated medical software or safety-critical industries
  • Experience deploying software in customer-managed or on-premise environments
  • AWS experience
  • German language skills
  • Interest in growing technical ownership responsibilities
