About the Role
As a Transfer Driver, you'll be the backbone of our vehicle movement operations. You'll transport rental equipment between U-Haul facilities throughout the Charlotte region, ensuring our fleet stays strategically positioned to serve customers where they need us. Your work directly impacts our ability to fulfill rental commitments and maintain service quality across North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate rental trucks and equipment safely between U-Haul locations and customer sites
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of trips, mileage, fuel, and vehicle condition
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols consistently
- Assist customers with equipment loading and basic operational guidance when needed
- Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly to management
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 18 years old (age requirements vary by vehicle class)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Physical capability to operate heavy vehicles and assist with equipment
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including potential weekends
