About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing AI-powered platform in the legal technology space that has recently closed a significant Series B funding round. Our client is expanding aggressively across the UK and US markets, serving top-tier law firms and enterprise clients. They need a Head of Talent to lead all hiring efforts and build a world-class recruiting function as they scale from approximately 100 to 300+ employees.

This is a strategic leadership role reporting directly to the executive team. You will take ownership of the entire talent function, manage a team of experienced recruiters across two continents, and personally run the most critical searches. This is precision hiring—every hire must raise the bar.

Responsibilities

• Own the company-wide hiring strategy in partnership with the CEO, COO, and CRO, translating growth targets into an executable talent plan
• Build and lead a high-performing talent team across the US and UK, coaching recruiters to operate at an exceptional standard
• Run search-led, direct hiring processes—mapping markets, building target lists, and pursuing named candidates rather than relying on inbound applicants
• Personally execute the most senior and business-critical searches end-to-end, from market mapping through offer close
• Establish operational rigour: accurate forecasts, clean pipeline data, consistent stakeholder communication, and disciplined follow-through
• Manage recruiting operations across US and UK time zones with a unified quality bar and clear accountability
• Serve as a strategic partner to the executive team on commercial strategy, technical org design, and talent planning
• Integrate AI tools into recruiting workflows to increase team effectiveness and output quality
• Set performance standards, provide direct feedback, and develop recruiting craft within the team

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record building or scaling a talent function within a VC-backed technology company through comparable growth (approximately 100-300 people)
• Demonstrated success in low-volume, high-calibre hiring with specific examples of hires that changed a company's trajectory
• Deep experience in both go-to-market and engineering recruitment, with knowledge of UK and US talent markets
• Executive search expertise: you have designed and run targeted headhunt processes for passive candidates, including market mapping, multi-touch engagement, assessment, and close
• Ability to operate as a strategic peer with C-level executives across commercial, technical, and operational domains
• Strong operational discipline—forecasts that hold, accurate ATS data, consistent pipeline reviews, and proactive stakeholder management
• Experience managing distributed recruiting teams across US and UK time zones with consistent standards
• Track record of raising team performance through clear expectations, honest feedback, visible metrics, and hands-on coaching
• Active use of AI in your recruiting workflow with tangible results
• Comfort with ambiguity, change, and direct performance conversations

This role is not suitable if you: prioritise volume metrics over hire quality, prefer managing agency panels to direct search, want to step back from hands-on recruiting, avoid difficult conversations, or view AI as theoretical rather than practical.
