Systemadministrator (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential hosting provider seeking a System Administrator to join their technical operations team in Hamburg. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex customer system inquiries, working directly with internal departments to resolve challenging infrastructure issues.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Analyzing log files on Linux systems (web servers, mail servers) to identify root causes of service disruptions
• Monitoring server infrastructure and responding swiftly to internal system incidents
• Providing clear explanations of complex technical issues and optimization recommendations to customers
• Collaborating with customer support and project management teams to implement service improvements based on patterns identified in daily support work
• Managing and troubleshooting mail services, database systems, and virtualized environments

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a candidate with proven web hosting experience who can hit the ground running:

• Previous experience working in a web hosting environment with understanding of common hosting challenges
• Strong Linux command-line proficiency, including kernel parameter tuning and service optimization
• Expert-level troubleshooting of mail systems (Postfix/Dovecot experience required)
• Solid database administration skills with MySQL and MariaDB
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and monitoring solutions (ICINGA2 experience is a plus)
• Solution-oriented mindset focused on building stable, scalable systems
• Excellent communication skills with patience for customer interactions, even during complex incidents
• Fluent German for customer communication; ability to read technical documentation in English
