Senior Mobile Engineer – Instrumentation SDK (iOS) | Germany | Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential observability platform company seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer - Instrumentation SDK (iOS) to join their team remotely from Germany. Our client is building next-generation mobile observability solutions that give developers first-class instrumentation capabilities across traces, metrics, logs, crashes, and user sessions.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in Germany. You'll work on high-performance, low-overhead SDKs that integrate with open standards and help development teams achieve true full-stack visibility from mobile applications through to backend infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS using Swift and Objective-C, prioritizing performance, stability, and excellent developer experience
• Design and ship SDK features including session tracking, crash reporting, sampling strategies, automatic context propagation, and OpenTelemetry integrations
• Own projects end-to-end, breaking large ambiguous problems into incremental deliverables and shipping MVPs with rapid iteration cycles
• Ensure quality through automated tests, CI pipelines, comprehensive documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrade paths
• Collaborate cross-functionally with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end observability workflows
• Engage with the open-source community by reviewing PRs, discussing design proposals, and guiding external contributors
• Mentor teammates, participate in technical design discussions, and help shape the mobile observability roadmap

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Motivated self-starter with bias toward action and ability to work autonomously in poorly defined scopes while maintaining strong collaboration
• Strong mobile engineering experience with iOS (Swift/Objective-C); Android experience (Kotlin/Java) is a bonus
• Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or other developer-facing platform code used by external developers
• Experience working with performance-sensitive code including startup time, memory optimization, and network efficiency
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry (instrumentation, SDKs, collectors) or experience with similar telemetry libraries
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed team environment
• Customer-focused mindset with passion for developer experience; able to write documentation, mentor others, and contribute to roadmap planning
• Pragmatic approach to navigating ambiguity, prioritizing progress over perfection

Bonus qualifications:

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability open-source projects
• Experience with cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter) or building native bindings/bridges
• Experience with mobile security, privacy, or platform integration challenges
• Prior work on crash aggregation, session replay, or sampling for mobile telemetry

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai for this position is €97,000 - €121,000 annually, based in Germany. Final compensation will be determined based on your experience level and skillset as assessed during the interview process. The client also offers equity participation through restricted stock units as part of the total compensation package.
