Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their globally distributed operations team. This is a fully remote role open to candidates anywhere in the world.

Our client operates hundreds of private cloud, container orchestration, and application clusters for enterprise customers. They take a software-engineering approach to infrastructure operations, using Python-based automation and model-driven operations patterns to manage infrastructure at scale across both physical and public cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Apply Python software engineering practices to infrastructure operations and automation challenges
• Architect, deploy, and operate cloud infrastructure including private cloud platforms, container orchestration systems, and software-defined storage
• Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions spanning bare metal networking through containerized applications
• Drive continuous upgrades and improvements to keep infrastructure current with latest open-source capabilities
• Manage mission-critical services for global enterprise customers in high-pressure operational environments
• Practice DevSecOps principles across the full infrastructure stack
• Contribute to metrics-driven, scientific approaches to operations at scale

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Strong Python software development expertise with engineering rigor
• Experience with Linux systems, including networking and storage
• Proven operational experience in production environments
• Excellent interpersonal skills with curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
• Ability to travel internationally twice yearly for team meetings (up to two weeks each)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience deploying or operating container orchestration platforms or private cloud infrastructure
• Familiarity with public or private cloud management
• Interest in automation as a pure software engineering discipline, not just scripting
• Willingness to learn the complete infrastructure stack from bare metal to serverless
