Engineering Manager – Solutions Engineering

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the enterprise software sector who is seeking an Engineering Manager - Solutions Engineering to lead a distributed team of Python engineers. This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the world.

Our client operates at the intersection of infrastructure automation, cloud computing, and open-source software development. The team you'll lead works closely with managed infrastructure operations teams running production OpenStack and Kubernetes environments, giving you direct insight into real-world operational challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a globally distributed team of Python software engineers
• Own hiring, coaching, mentoring, and career development for your team members
• Contribute code directly to demonstrate technical leadership and maintain engineering credibility
• Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and technical projects
• Coordinate expectations across engineering teams, operations teams, and stakeholders
• Champion modern agile software development practices and DevOps workflows
• Build and maintain a healthy, collaborative engineering culture
• Participate actively in the leadership team alongside other engineering managers
• Travel globally approximately 10% of the time for team meetings and events

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record of developing and growing software engineering talent
• Deep knowledge and passion for agile software development methodologies
• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers, especially Python engineers
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies
• Hands-on experience administrating Linux servers, including storage and networking
• Practical experience with software automation and infrastructure-as-code
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on delivering quality software on schedule
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Bonus qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field
• Deep understanding of modern infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack or Kubernetes
• Background in both operations and software development
• Familiarity with challenges of large-scale, multi-cloud operations
• Experience with Go programming language
