System Engineer – Backup & Monitoring (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential IT services organization seeking a System Engineer to take ownership of backup, monitoring, and automation for business-critical systems. You'll work in a modern infrastructure environment where stability, availability, and transparency are paramount.

In this role, you will:

• Operate, maintain, and develop backup platforms using Veeam and cloud-based backup solutions
• Ensure recoverability through regular restore and disaster recovery testing
• Manage monitoring and alerting systems with PRTG, including sensors, thresholds, and dashboards
• Analyze and resolve incidents within the backup and monitoring environment with sustainable solutions
• Automate and optimize processes using PowerShell and APIs
• Create and maintain documentation, standards, and runbooks
• Implement security and compliance requirements such as immutable backups and offsite strategies
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, customers, and external partners

What We're Looking For

Our talent team is seeking candidates with:

• Solid hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication
• Knowledge of cloud, tape, and immutable storage solutions (e.g., S3, Wasabi, Azure)
• Strong proficiency in PRTG Network Monitor
• Confident use of PowerShell for automation and interface development
• Solid expertise in Windows Server and VMware vSphere or Hyper-V
• Understanding of datacenter fundamentals with structured and reliable working methods

Nice to have: Linux knowledge, experience with additional monitoring tools, ITIL familiarity, or certifications such as Veeam VMCE, PRTG, or VMware VCP
