About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential IT infrastructure organization based in Essen that is building and scaling modern virtualization platforms. As their recruiting partner, we're seeking a System Engineer specializing in virtualization technologies to manage stable, high-performance environments across Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware platforms.
This role sits at the heart of datacenter operations, where you'll work closely with storage, network, backup, and security teams to optimize infrastructure and support mission-critical projects. Our client values technical depth, continuous learning, and professional certifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and develop Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere/ESXi clusters
- Plan and implement high-availability solutions and live migrations
- Analyze and optimize capacity and performance across CPU, RAM, storage, and network resources
- Execute maintenance windows, patching, upgrades, and hardware refresh projects
- Troubleshoot and resolve hypervisor-level incidents with sustainable solutions
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
What We're Looking For
- Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server environments
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi platforms
- Understanding of datacenter architectures including SAN, storage systems, networking, and backup concepts
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting
- Structured, analytical working style with solution-oriented approach to complex incidents
- Bonus skills (not required): Proxmox, Xen/XCP-ng, automation tools, monitoring platforms, Veeam, or Linux
- German language proficiency required for this location
