We are representing a fast-growing content platform company that is entering a pivotal stage of infrastructure evolution. Our client operates at significant scale—handling tens of thousands of requests per second—and needs a seasoned leader to establish clearer ownership models, strengthen platform foundations, and build the operational discipline required for the next phase of growth.

As Director of Cloud Infrastructure, you will lead the teams responsible for the foundational systems that engineering teams depend on daily: cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes orchestration, networking architecture, observability systems, CI/CD pipelines, and the production standards that enable confident service ownership across product teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at both strategic and technical depth—someone who can architect solutions with senior engineers while building the operating models that make platform and reliability work sustainable across a scaling organization.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the infrastructure strategy across cloud platforms, reliability engineering, deployment systems, observability, security, cost optimization, and developer experience
• Lead platform and SRE teams responsible for shared foundations including GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, networking, service discovery, API gateways, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure as code
• Establish clear ownership boundaries between centralized platform services and product team service ownership, ensuring teams can deploy and operate services confidently
• Drive reliability improvements across production systems through improved observability, alert standards, on-call readiness, production checklists, and incident response protocols
• Create and maintain clear deployment paths with production readiness checks, safe rollout processes, and automation that reduces friction for engineering teams
• Partner with product, engineering, security, and customer-facing teams on infrastructure work that directly impacts customer experience: uptime, performance, scalability, compliance, and trust
• Own cloud cost discipline by understanding spend patterns, making tradeoffs visible, and helping teams build with cost awareness
• Shape long-term architecture for multi-region operations, disaster recovery, data residency requirements, and compliance standards including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and similar frameworks
• Hire, develop, and mentor infrastructure leaders and senior engineers, establishing high technical standards while supporting professional growth

What We're Looking For

• Proven leadership experience with Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, or Cloud teams in a scaling SaaS, API platform, or developer tools environment
• Track record operating high-volume production systems with multi-region deployment, strict uptime requirements, and customer-facing reliability expectations
• Deep technical experience with Kubernetes, major cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar), service networking, CDN architecture, observability platforms, and CI/CD systems
• Ability to engage in technical architecture discussions with senior engineers while making pragmatic decisions when perfect solutions create unnecessary delay
• Experience establishing platform ownership models that empower product teams without creating bottlenecks or ticket-queue dependencies
• Strong systems thinking approach to improving on-call and reliability through tooling, standards, and feedback loops rather than heroics
• Ability to translate complex infrastructure challenges into clear strategies and drive execution until completion
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, including executives, product leaders, engineers, and customer success teams
• Management experience with senior technical leads or other managers, with demonstrated ability to coach, set standards, and intervene when necessary

Pay
