Contract Software Engineer – DOM Core Firefox/Gecko

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential open-source browser organization seeking a Contract Software Engineer to strengthen their DOM Core team's Session History implementation. In this remote contract role, you will:

• Write Web-Platform tests to expand coverage and internal test suites as needed
• Identify and resolve defects to improve browser engine correctness
• Collaborate through code review with module owners and iterate to production landing
• Deliver measurable improvements in test coverage and code quality, enabling senior engineers to focus on security, performance, and strategic initiatives

What we're looking for

Required:

• Substantial experience working in a browser-engine codebase or automating for a browser engine
• Solid JavaScript skills with proven ability to write automated tests
• Proficiency in C++ development
• Strong debugging capabilities in mature, large-scale codebases
• Comfort working in the open with public bug tracking, code review, and upstream contributions

Preferred:

• Prior contributions to major browser engines
• Familiarity with web standards and Web Platform Tests
