About This Opportunity

We are representing a global media and marketing organization in their search for a Director, Planning to join their team in London. Our client operates at the intersection of data, media partnerships, and creative strategy, delivering sophisticated campaigns for major brands across multiple markets.

This Director-level role focuses on leading media planning and account management for a significant automotive client account within a fully integrated agency model. You will collaborate closely with creative, account management, and specialist teams to design and deliver award-winning campaigns across brand and performance objectives.

The role requires a hybrid working pattern: two days per week at a client office in Essex (travel costs covered), one day at the London office, and two flexible days at your chosen location.

Responsibilities

• Lead a planning team delivering strategic media planning and account management across both consumer and commercial vehicle segments
• Manage senior client relationships and act as primary liaison between clients and channel specialist teams
• Define audience targeting approaches, translating insight into actionable strategies for both addressable and non-addressable media
• Design comprehensive connections plans across all relevant touchpoints, balancing brand-building and performance objectives
• Collaborate with creative, PR, experiential, and influencer agencies to deliver integrated campaigns
• Develop measurement and testing frameworks to inform, measure, and optimize campaign performance
• Provide day-to-day campaign management and ensure briefs have clear, measurable objectives
• Line manage planning team members and contribute to departmental leadership as a senior team member
• Drive media innovation and push strategic boundaries to support continued business growth
• Work collaboratively across international teams on global brand initiatives

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Extensive experience in media planning at Director or Business Director level
• Proven track record managing senior client relationships and leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects
• Deep understanding of audience-first planning methodologies and ability to translate insight into media strategy
• Broad knowledge of media channels with specialty expertise in how each channel contributes to integrated communications strategies
• Strong ability to design holistic measurement frameworks, set appropriate KPIs, and plan for optimization
• Demonstrated excellence in planning craft with clear opinions on what constitutes outstanding media campaigns
• Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing planning teams
• Exceptional organizational abilities and workflow management for self and junior team members
• Collaborative team player who creates inclusive environments for specialists to contribute
• Passion for media with current knowledge of industry trends and innovations
• Open-minded and flexible approach, embracing agile ways of working
• Ability to handle challenging conversations and navigate complex agency-client dynamics

Required:

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Willingness to work hybrid schedule including travel to Essex location twice weekly
