Staff/Lead Front-end Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded AI technology company in their search for a Staff/Lead Front-end Engineer to join their UK-based team. Our client operates in the enterprise software space, building sophisticated data visualization and process intelligence solutions trusted by Fortune 500 organizations.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates in European timezones (UTC-1 to UTC+3) or Eastern Time Zone locations. You'll join a lean, senior-heavy engineering organization of approximately 50 people distributed across 16+ countries, working in small cross-functional teams with significant ownership and impact.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex data-visualization applications that display large-scale data properties (processes, workflows, metrics) with scalability and reliability as core requirements
• Build real-time frontend interfaces enabling collaborative graph data editing and AI model training workflows
• Own projects end-to-end within small teams, collaborating closely with technical leads and product managers
• Participate in architectural decisions and cross-team collaboration to drive product improvements
• Contribute to team processes, rituals, and documentation to increase engineering effectiveness
• Provide constructive feedback through RFCs and code reviews, mentoring peers to elevate team capabilities
• Support hiring and onboarding activities as the team scales

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrably high engineering standards
• Strong expertise in React, state management patterns, and modern front-end architecture principles
• Deep understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques for data-intensive applications
• Knowledge of advanced system design principles, data structures, and concepts underlying large-scale applications
• Baseline backend engineering capabilities (adding API endpoints, modifying business logic)
• Track record of delivering clean, testable, modular, well-documented code
• Experience owning complete project lifecycle from specification through deployment and observability
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts and trade-offs

Bonus qualifications:

• Background in fast-paced scale-up environments or founding engineering roles with a history of iterative value delivery
• Experience with graph-based or canvas-based rendering, graph editing, or geometry manipulation
