About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential mobile gaming technology company that is scaling a rewarded user engagement platform at global scale. This is a senior-level role where you'll build and own the data foundation that powers high-traffic consumer products and marketing systems.

As a Senior AI Data Expert, you'll operate across data engineering, machine learning, data science, and analytics—moving to wherever the highest-value problem is rather than staying in one lane. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll build systems that directly drive business performance, using AI tools as a core part of your daily workflow to plan, build, debug, and document at speed.

Our client believes a small team of engineers working closely with AI can outperform much larger traditional data teams. If you're energized by complex systems, high traffic, and measurable impact over process, this role is built for that mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines on Databricks to integrate data from app, web, and marketing partner sources
• Build and manage the Data Lakehouse on Databricks, including migrating legacy data products and implementing transformations using PySpark
• Monitor and optimize the data stack for nightly and near-real-time processing, ensuring data quality and integrity
• Turn open business questions into decision-ready analysis when that's where the highest-value work is
• Use AI tools like Claude daily to plan, build, debug, and document pipelines, treating AI as core infrastructure rather than an add-on
• Integrate AI directly into version control workflows using Git worktrees to run parallel AI-assisted branches
• Maintain structured project context for AI tools so they stay accurate and useful as pipelines and codebases grow
• Run multiple AI coding agents on separate tasks simultaneously, reviewing and integrating output rather than writing every line serially
• Move fluidly across data engineering, machine learning, data science, and analytics work depending on team needs
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering and applied AI

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field (or bootcamp experience), with minimum 4 years of professional experience across data engineering, machine learning, data science, or analytics
• Real experience in at least two of: data engineering, machine learning, data science, or analytics, with comfort picking up others as needed
• Current, deep Databricks experience: at least one year of hands-on depth designing, implementing, and optimizing ETL processes on Databricks—not brief or dated exposure
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Kinesis, and Lambda (or similar technologies)
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with PostgreSQL is a plus
• Genuine AI fluency: daily, hands-on use of AI tools like Claude across planning, building, debugging, and documentation—this is core and non-negotiable, not a nice-to-have
• Know how to set up and maintain project context and memory for AI coding tools using structured instructions and reusable prompts
• Comfortable running several tickets in parallel with AI assistance using Git worktrees or similar approaches, with ability to explain your actual workflow in detail
• Highly proficient in Python, SQL, and PySpark for data manipulation and processing
• Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
• Genuinely open to a way of working where AI reshapes how data teams operate, not just tolerant of it
