About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential computational biology organization tackling fundamental questions at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and artificial intelligence. Our client is building frontier AI models to understand molecular systems and reaction networks. This is a rare opportunity to work at the cutting edge of ML-for-science, where your models directly influence experimental work and new lab data shapes your next iteration.

Responsibilities

• Design and train large-scale models spanning molecular structure, dynamics, enzymatic interactions, and reaction network prediction
• Own the full model lifecycle including architecture selection, data pipeline development, training execution, debugging, and evaluation
• Collaborate closely with experimental chemists and biochemists, translating between computational and bench science fluently
• Integrate new experimental data into iterative model improvements
• Make strategic decisions about model approaches where high-risk, high-reward paths are supported

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Demonstrated track record training large models end to end, with the depth to discuss technical challenges, failures, and solutions in detail
• Strong ML engineering fundamentals across architectures, training dynamics, data pipelines, and evaluation methodologies
• Prior hands-on experience applying machine learning to chemistry, biology, or related physical science problems
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues whose primary expertise is in experimental sciences rather than AI

Highly Preferred:

• PhD in a quantitative field (common among the team, though depth of experience matters more than credentials)
• Specific experience in ML-for-chemistry or ML-for-biology domains such as neural network potentials, graph neural networks, protein modeling, or reaction prediction
