About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential mental health technology organization seeking a Technical Lead to join a product-focused engineering team in London. This is a remote-first role with monthly travel to the company's London headquarters.

Our client combines behavioral science with technology to deliver mental health solutions at scale. You'll work in a hands-on leadership capacity, partnering closely with Product Management to build features that directly impact user outcomes while maintaining technical excellence and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Product Manager as the technical counterpart—finding efficient ways to move team metrics while meeting governance needs, pressure-testing priorities, and shaping what gets built using technical and business knowledge
• Represent technology needs in product and roadmap discussions, including technical goals, non-functional requirements, and investments needed to maintain team velocity
• Own the technical direction of the team—architecture, daily technical decisions, and risk management—ensuring alignment with broader organizational technology strategy
• Own technical quality through reviewing plans, elevating the team's technical thinking, and ensuring delivered features work as intended
• Manage technical sequencing and dependencies, serving as the primary contact for Engineering Management when technical work impacts project delivery
• Build alongside the team, taking on complex work while mentoring engineers and raising the quality bar
• Embed AI tools like Claude Code throughout your workflow for scoping, designing, coding, reviewing, and documenting, sharing learnings with the team

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record as a Senior Engineer in product-focused teams—you've designed and shipped complex software, made architectural decisions, and raised standards through review and mentoring
• Strong experience partnering with Product Managers or similar product leadership roles, shaping what gets built by bringing technical and business knowledge into product conversations
• Product and business mindset—you understand business context, think in terms of user and business outcomes, and connect technical decisions to value delivery
• Experience making technical trade-offs with confidence—knowing when to optimize for speed, when to invest in quality, and when to push back on scope or approach
• Comfortable communicating technical context to non-engineers in writing and in person, across product, business stakeholders, and the wider organization
• Able to operate with sound judgment and independence—making good decisions with incomplete information, knowing when to involve others, and managing your time between hands-on work and leadership
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; experience with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, Python, Golang, or SQL is helpful but not required
