Propulsion Test Engineer

Overview

We are representing a confidential aerospace organization in Germany that is actively conducting static-fire testing and launch operations. Our client seeks a Propulsion Test Engineer to plan, execute, and analyze rocket motor tests across multiple scales. This is a hands-on role at the center of an active test and launch program, where you will work directly with propulsion hardware and contribute immediately to iterative development cycles.

Responsibilities

• Define test objectives, success criteria, instrumentation requirements, and data deliverables for static-fire tests
• Prepare comprehensive test procedures, checklists, risk controls, readiness reviews, and supporting documentation
• Set up motors, fixtures, sensors, data-acquisition systems, facilities, and support equipment for testing
• Execute static-fire tests safely and methodically, troubleshooting technical issues in real time
• Acquire, validate, reduce, and analyze test data including force, pressure, and temperature measurements
• Produce post-test reports and collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate findings into design improvements and future test processes

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or systems engineering, physics, mechatronics, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered
• Experience in test engineering, experimental engineering, laboratory testing, commissioning, or hands-on hardware environments
• Demonstrated ability developing or executing test procedures and working systematically through preparation, execution, data review, and reporting
• Familiarity with sensors, instrumentation, data acquisition, calibration, and signal quality assessment
• Strong troubleshooting skills, safety-focused mindset, and methodical approach under pressure
• Willingness to work directly with test stands, fixtures, cabling, instrumentation, hardware, and facilities

Desirable experience:

• Static-fire testing or experience with rocket engines, solid or hybrid motors, combustion hardware, pressure systems, or hazardous aerospace hardware
• Thrust stands, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, or high-speed data acquisition systems
• Test automation using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar engineering tools
• Test-data reduction, uncertainty analysis, signal processing, anomaly detection, or correlation against simulation models
• Test-facility operations, hazardous-materials controls, explosives safety, or formal test-readiness processes
• Propulsion fundamentals including thermodynamics, combustion, fluid mechanics, or internal ballistics
